Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe licensing information is available through UBC IT Adobe products licensing. Adobe access at UBC uses named-user licensing, and MBIM IT can help confirm whether your CWL is already eligible through an existing departmental or institutional arrangement.
Shared computers and lab systems often require a different deployment approach than individual installations. Contact MBIM IT before installing Adobe on a shared department device.
Antivirus
Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) is available for UBC students, staff, and faculty. For service details, installation information, and related documentation, visit the UBC Cisco AMP service page.

AppArmor (Working Alone App)
UBC’s AppArmor service supports working-alone and isolation check-ins. If your lab is using the service now, or wants to adopt it for new personnel, MBIM IT can help direct you to the correct campus contacts and current process.

FlowJo
FlowJo is widely used for flow cytometry analysis and visualization. Licensing can vary by lab, grant, and purchasing channel, so MBIM IT should be consulted before a purchase or renewal is made.

GraphPad Prism
GraphPad Prism is commonly used for graphing, statistics, and figure preparation in life sciences research. Licensing availability may depend on lab-level purchasing or faculty arrangements, so please check with MBIM IT before buying new licenses.

MATLAB
MATLAB is used for technical computing, numerical analysis, visualization, and application development. UBC IT maintains a campus licensing agreement with MathWorks for eligible faculty, staff, and researchers.
These licenses are commonly network-based, which means the workstation usually requires a network connection while the software is in use. If you need help assessing eligibility or workstation licensing needs, MBIM IT can help point you to the right UBC licensing channel.

Microsoft 365 (Office)
Microsoft 365 applications are available through UBC for eligible faculty, staff, and students. Access typically includes core Office applications and related services used across teaching, research, and administrative work.
If you are unsure whether you should use a faculty/staff account, student account, or a department-managed setup for Microsoft applications, ask MBIM IT before installing or migrating data.
SnapGene
SnapGene is commonly used for molecular biology workflows such as plasmid maps, primer design, cloning simulation, and sequence visualization. Licensing may be purchased at the lab level or through other arrangements, so MBIM IT should be consulted before purchase.

Teaching & Learning Software
UBC licenses a range of teaching and learning tools for students, staff, and faculty. Current offerings and training resources are maintained through the LT Hub.
