Service areas
Our service portfolio includes five major areas:
- IT infrastructure management for network, server, and systems operations
- Desktop support for department-managed computers and mobile devices
- Application maintenance and development for departmental web and service platforms
- Project services for planning and technology-related initiatives
- Research support for data, systems, and advanced computing needs
What we support
- Infrastructure management includes departmental networking, server administration, systems operations, and storage services that support secure day-to-day work.
- Desktop support covers more than 600 department computers across Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as tablets, smartphones, and essential work-related software.
- Application services include the development and maintenance of departmental online services, including Drupal and WordPress platforms.
- Backup and file services support data protection and continuity.
- Security compliance and auditing help protect MBIM network-based systems.
- Technology purchasing support includes computing asset recommendations and input on grant applications with computing requirements.
- Project services include support for data management planning and related technology initiatives.
- Research support includes research data management, server administration, and advanced research computing assistance.
MBIM IT supports both operational and research technology needs, with services spanning infrastructure, endpoints, web platforms, security, and data-focused project work.

IT Advisory Committee
MBIM IT plans and reports on departmental technology initiatives through the IT Advisory Committee, which in turn advises department leadership, including the Head, Michael Murphy, and the Director of Operations, Jarrad Wiens.
